The CFR Pavilions (Pavilioanele CFR) are an interwar railway ensemble beside the Elisabeth Esplanade in Iași, created in the 1920s for employees of the Romanian state railway. The group combines former staff housing and administrative buildings with a larger cultural center, now known as Club CFR.
After CFR received land in the Râpa Galbenă area in 1922, the railway began developing a compact complex of staff housing, offices, and communal facilities between the railway station and the upper city. The new buildings also formed part of the wider transformation of the unstable slope, where the Elisabeth Esplanade had already created a new route toward central Iași.
The most substantial building in the ensemble opened in 1925 as a cultural and educational center for railway workers and their families. It contained classrooms, meeting and performance spaces, a library, a dispensary, and other communal facilities, giving the railway settlement its own social center as well as practical accommodation. Its larger scale and more elaborate corner façade distinguish it from the surrounding pavilions.
The building later became Club CFR, continuing the cultural role for which it had originally been created. Together with the surviving former offices and staff housing around it, it preserves an unusual example of the infrastructure and community facilities developed for railway employees in interwar Iași.
