The UAPR Art Galleries Iași (Galeriile de Artă UAPR Iași) are a group of contemporary art galleries in central Iași, operated by the Iași branch of the Union of Visual Artists of Romania (Uniunea Artiștilor Plastici din România). The galleries occupy the 19th-century Istrati House, also known as Drossu House, opposite the Union Museum.
Before becoming an arts venue, the building formed part of the commercial and residential life of Alexandru Lăpușneanu Street. It takes its name from former owner N. Istrati, while during the 1930s the ground floor housed a well-known fashion shop run by the Zilberstein sisters. The house later became the headquarters of the Iași branch of the Union of Visual Artists, which has operated here since 1978.
The building was restored in 1982, when new exhibition rooms and art shops were created inside. The gallery complex developed further over the following decades, including the Nicolae Tonitza Art Gallery from 1996 and the Theodor Pallady Art Gallery from 2013. Both names commemorate painters who played important roles in the development of the Iași school of painting.
Today the complex includes the Theodor Pallady, Octav Băncilă, Nicolae Tonitza, Arcada, and Beciul lui Drossu galleries, all at the same address. Their programs change regularly and include painting, sculpture, photography, contemporary art, and other temporary exhibitions by members of the Iași branch and invited artists. Two winged chimeras on the balcony have become a distinctive feature of the building and mark the galleries from the street.
