The Mediaș City Hall (Primăria Municipiului Mediaș) is the main municipal administration building on Corneliu Coposu Square, immediately outside the historic center of Mediaș.
The building forms one of the principal elements of the modern civic center that developed here during the postwar transformation of the city. Rather than continuing to use the much smaller historic town hall on King Ferdinand I Square, the municipal administration eventually moved into this substantially larger headquarters, facing the broad new public square created outside the medieval core.
Architect Paul Mihai Veseli designed the City Hall while working for the Sibiu county design institute, and he was also involved in the wider systematization planning of Mediaș. The building belongs to the later 20th-century development of the civic center, alongside institutions such as the Trade Unions’ House of Culture.
Its architecture reflects its administrative function more than any attempt at monumentality, with a long horizontal façade overlooking the square and a central entrance emphasizing the building’s civic role. The balcony above the entrance became particularly significant during the Romanian Revolution in December 1989, when residents gathered in the square and speeches were delivered from the City Hall as local communist authority collapsed.
The building is still the principal headquarters of the Mediaș municipal administration today, with several public services operating from Piața Corneliu Coposu 3.
