Weather & Climate
Sibiu County enjoys a temperate continental climate, influenced by the surrounding Carpathian peaks and the Transylvanian Plateau. The variation in altitude creates a diverse environment, ranging from the mild, rolling hills of the north to the cool, invigorating alpine climate of the Făgăraș Mountains in the south.
Summer is pleasantly warm in the valleys, making it an excellent time to explore the historic streets of Sibiu city. Daytime temperatures typically range from 23°C to 26°C. In the higher mountain areas, the air remains crisp and refreshing, with daytime highs around 16°C to 19°C and cool evenings dropping to 9°C.
Spring and Autumn provide beautiful, moderate conditions. Spring begins in April, with temperatures rising steadily to 18°C by May. Autumn is a scenic highlight; September remains mild with averages of 20°C, while October brings a crisp, golden atmosphere with daytime highs around 12°C, perfect for hiking or photography.
Winter brings snowy landscapes, especially at higher elevations, creating a classic winter destination. Daytime temperatures generally hover between 0°C and 3°C, while nighttime lows frequently drop to -7°C or lower, ideal for winter sports or enjoying the region’s festive holiday charm.
