Sala Dalles, officially the Metropolitan Center for Education and Culture Ioan I. Dalles (Centrul Metropolitan de Educație și Cultură) is a cultural center on Bulevardul Nicolae Bălcescu in central Bucharest.
The center is named after Ioan I Dalles, the son of a wealthy Romanian of Greek descent who had multiple properties in Bucharest in the 19th century. After Ioan died at the age of 35 in 1918, his mother Elena bequeathed a part of the family fortune to the Romanian Academy to establish a cultural foundation bearing the name of her son. His father Ioan G. Dalles had already died in 1886 and Elena died in 1921.
Between 1929 and 1932 the old buildings on Bulevardul Nicolae Bălcescu were demolished and a new purpose-built building was constructed following the plans of the architect Horia Teodoru. On 29 May 1932, the Ioan I. Dalles Foundation was officially opened.
Sala Dalles has a capacity of 344 seats and hosts a variety of cultural events, including courses, conferences, exhibitions, theater performances, and concerts.
