The Holy Trinity Church (Biserica Sfânta Treime) is a Romanian Orthodox church in Cisnădie, Sibiu County, standing on Strada Măgurii in the upper part of the town. The present building was constructed between 1984 and 1989, replacing a much smaller improvised place of worship used by the local Orthodox community since the 1960s.
Orthodox services in this part of Cisnădie began in 1964 in a former private house donated by a Swabian family when they left the area. The building was adapted with a small tower, cross and liturgical furnishings, while priests initially came from nearby Sadu to serve the congregation. In 1970, Gheorghe Gașpar became parish priest and began seeking permission to build a proper church.
Those requests were repeatedly refused by the communist authorities. In 1984, Gașpar and the parish nevertheless began constructing the present church without the required approvals, relying largely on donations and work from local parishioners. The building was completed in 1989, only shortly before the fall of the communist regime.
Dedicated to the Holy Trinity, the church was designed as a much larger and more permanent home for the growing Orthodox community. Its architecture follows traditional Orthodox forms, with a prominent central dome, towers above the entrance and a spacious painted interior arranged around the iconostasis.
The church remains an active parish today, and the memory of Gheorghe Gașpar is closely preserved here as the priest who led its construction during a period when building new churches was extremely difficult.
