Cluj-Napoca International Airport – Avram Iancu is the airport serving the city of Cluj-Napoca with domestic and international flights and is the second busiest airport in Romania. Initially known as Someșeni Airport, the airport has been renamed in honor of the Romanian revolutionary Avram Iancu.

Cluj-Napoca International Airport serves direct flights to almost 50 international destinations, most of which are within Europe. Budget airline WizzAir has a hub at Cluj-Napoca’s airport, from where it is flying to more than 40 destinations. The airport also has seasonal (charter) flights to typical holiday destinations and domestically there are direct flights to Bucharest International Airport (operated by TAROM and HiSky).

Facilities At Cluj-Napoca International Airport
Cluj-Napoca Airport offers free WiFi in all public areas of the airport, including the arrivals and departure terminals. Both the domestic and international departures terminals have a Business Lounge located behind the security checks.
A smoking area can be found in the international departures terminal near gates B5 and B6 on the first floor. Smoking in all other areas of the airport is strictly prohibited. A chapel can be found in the public area on the first floor of the departures terminal.
A Transilvania Bank branch as well as a currency exchange office can be found in the departures terminal. ATMs can be found in both the arrivals and departures terminals.
For food and drinks you can find coffee shops in the public areas of the airport and behind the secury checks in both the domestic and international departures terminals. A larger restaurant is located on the first floor of the public area in the old terminal.
Behind the security in the international departures terminal there are also a few tax-free and other shops.
Getting To And From Cluj-Napoca International Airport
Cluj-Napoca International Airport is located 9 kilometers east of the city center of Cluj-Napoca and can be reached in less than 30 minutes from there by bus, taxi, private transfer, or (rental) car.
By Bus
Bus lines 5 and 8 each serve the airport from the center of Cluj-Napoca in approximately 26 minutes. Both lines operate at 10 minute intervals during weekdays. During weekends line 5 departs approximately every 20 minutes. The bus stops are located outside the airport on the main road Strada Traian Vuia.
By Taxi
The official taxi stand is located directly outside the arrivals terminal of the airport. A list of taxi companies can be found on the official airport website. Ridesharing apps Uber and Bolt are also available to find rides to and from the airport.
By Private Transfer
You can also pre-book a private transfer to your hotel online, so you can skip the taxi queue at the airport as a dedicated driver will be waiting for you with a sign with your name in the arrivals hall. This is the most convenient way as you won’t have to worry about getting cash and waiting for a taxi to be available during the busy summer months.
By Car
Cluj-Napoca International Airport can be easily reached by car via Strada Traian Vuia (E576) and paid parking is available without prior booking (more info below).
Parking At Cluj-Napoca International Airport
Short term and long term parking is available right in front of the airport terminal if you take the exit on the roundabout. This parking lot is managed by GOTO Parking and is rather expensive if you park for multiple days. Cheaper parking is available to the east and west of the airport where daily rates apply that get cheaper the longer you park. To get here, make sure to not take the exit at the roundabout but the one before or after for the Parking 1 – West (Vest) or Parking 2 – East (Est) parking lots.
