TAROM is the oldest and largest operating airline in Romania and the national flag carrier owned by the state. The airline was founded in 1920 and currently has its headquarters at Bucharest International Airport – Henri Coandă in Otopeni, near Bucharest. The name TAROM is an acronym for Transporturile Aeriene Române (Romanian Air Transport).
TAROM has been a member of the airline alliance SkyTeam since 2010. Via this large network of SkyTeam partners and other code-sharing partners, there are a lot of direct and indirect flight connections to Romania. TAROM also participates in the frequent flyer program Flying Blue of Air France and KLM, which means you can collect and use Flying Blue miles on flights operated by TAROM and other participating airline partners.
Romanian Airports Served
TAROM has its base at Bucharest International Airport – Henri Coandă from where it operates the majority of its flights. In total, TAROM also operates flights from 7 airports in Romania:
- Baia Mare MaramureÈ™ Airport
- Bucharest International Airport – Henri Coandă
- Cluj-Napoca International Airport
- Iași International Airport
- Oradea International Airport
- Satu Mare International Airport
- Suceava International Airport

Destinations from Romania
TAROM operates domestic flights between Bucharest and 7 airports in Romania and international flights to 15 European destinations and 5 destinations in the Middle East. Since TAROM is part of SkyTeam, the number of destinations you can reach from Bucharest is much larger due to the collaboration with the other participating alliance partners. For example, you can book a flight from Bucharest to New York, which consists of a TAROM flight to Paris that connects to an Air France flight to New York. You only have to check-in once in Bucharest and drop your luggage at the airport there, and it will automatically be transferred for you in Paris so you can collect it upon arrival at the airport in New York.
Connecting Flights At Bucharest International Airport
Since TAROM flies both domestically and internationally, they offer connecting flights from international flights arriving in Bucharest to other cities in Romania and vice versa. Since TAROM is part of SkyTeam, you can also book flights to Bucharest via its many airline partners that connect to domestic TAROM flights to other Romanian destinations. Due to this so-called code-sharing it’s easy to get to different parts of Romania from a large number of airports worldwide.
