The Walk of Fame (Aleea Celebrităților) is a monument in Citadel Park in Sibiu, honoring prominent figures from theater, film, dance, music and other performing arts who have contributed to the cultural life of the city.
The monument was created in 2013 at the initiative of the Sibiu International Theatre Festival and the Radu Stanca National Theatre, with support from the municipality. Its location was chosen along the park between Thalia Hall and Radu Stanca National Theatre, placing the memorial within one of Sibiu’s main cultural areas. The first stars were unveiled during the 2013 edition of the festival and included directors Ariane Mnouchkine, Eugenio Barba, Silviu Purcărete and Declan Donnellan, theater critic George Banu and Kabuki actor Nakamura Kanzaburō XVII.
New names have been added in subsequent years, creating a growing series of inscribed stars set into the pavement. Honorees include internationally known directors, actors, choreographers, playwrights and musicians as well as Romanian cultural figures with strong connections to Sibiu. Among them are Peter Brook, Radu Stanca, Martin Hochmeister, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Isabelle Huppert, Tim Robbins and Maia Morgenstern.
