The Wheelmakers’ Tower (Turnul Rotarilor) is a 16th-century defensive tower on the eastern side of the medieval fortifications of Mediaș. Maintained by the town’s wheelmakers’ guild, it formed part of the line of towers protecting this side of the old town.
The tower has a simple prismatic form and was later converted into a residence, which changed much of its original defensive appearance. The adjoining section of city wall also survives, with a stone base that was repaired during the late 17th century.
After a period of residential use and later abandonment, the tower was restored in the 2010s and remains part of the city’s protected historic properties.
