The Former Discount Bank Employees’ Pension House (Casa de pensionari și ajutorare a funcționarilor Băncii de Scont) is a historic building in the old center of Constanța, originally constructed as a private residence for Alexandru Cosma. He received permission to build the house in 1895, while architect Adolf Linz later designed an extension along one side of the property in 1912.
The building has an eclectic design with strong neoclassical elements, including a symmetrical façade, horizontal rustication, triangular pediments above the ground-floor windows and balustraded terraces. The main entrance projects slightly from the façade and is framed by attached columns, while decorative brackets, floral motifs and a prominent cornice add further detail.
By the interwar period the building had entered the banking world, first housing Banca Generală a Țării Românești and later becoming the property of the pension and assistance organization for employees of the Discount Bank of Romania. After the communist nationalization, it was used by several educational institutions, including an economic high school and a special vocational school. Since 2005, it has been used by the Archdiocese of Tomis as accommodation for students of the Orthodox theological seminary.
