Getting Around In Constanța
Constanța is one of the largest cities in Romania and being the epicenter of the Black Sea tourism in Romania makes it extra busy during the summer months. Despite the traffic and distances, it’s still easy to get around as there are several good options, which include walking, public transport, taxis, ridesharing, bike and e-scooter rental, and even a cable car.
- By foot: Despite being a large and stretched-out city, the center of Constanța is fairly compact and especially the historic old town is easily walkable by foot. Most of the interesting sights, restaurants, nightlife and some of the beaches can be found in this area so getting around by foot is the best option if you want to explore the city.
- By public transport: Constanța also has an extensive public transport system consisting of around 25 bus lines covering the entire city, and suburbs. The most useful lines for tourists are 100M and the City Tour line which only run during the summer season and connect the train station with the city center, the old town, and Mamaia. Bus tickets can be purchased from ticket kiosks available at some of the bus stops, via SMS, via the mobile app mobilPay Wallet, or via 24Pay. A single-journey ticket costs 2.50 lei, a 75-minute ticket for all lines is 4 lei and a 24-hour pass is 10 lei. More information about the bus routes and timetables can be found on the website of CT Bus and via the CT Bus mobile app.
- By taxi and ridesharing apps: Taxis are also a relatively inexpensive and convenient way to get around in the city and ridesharing app Bolt is also available for rides in Constanța.
- By electric scooter: E-scooters are also a fun way to get around and both Lime and Bolt have a fleet available for rent in Constanța. You can find and book the scooters via their respective mobile apps.
- By bycicle: There is an i’Velo bycicle rental station at the City Park Mall where you can rent a bike by the hour or for 24 hours You don’t need an app or a subscription as you can just pay at the kiosk.
- By cable car: Another fun way to move around is via the Mamaia Cable Car. The cable car runs between the Perla Station and the Mamaia Casino, and although much more expensive than a bus or taxi, you get rewarded with fantastic views of the beach.
