The Liebrecht-Filipescu House (Casa Liebrecht-Filipescu) is a historic building currently serving as the University House (Casa Universitarilor) of the University of Bucharest.
The building was designed by the Dalmatian architect Luigi Lipizer, who also designed the Bosianu House (located in Carol I Park) and the House Of Guilds. The style can be described as eclectic with neo-Gothic, Byzantine, and Moorish elements.
The house was owned by Cezar Liebrecht, who held an important position as the head of the Post Office and was part of a close circle of friends around Alexandru Ioan Cuza, the first prince of united Romania. After Cuza’s abdication, Liebrecht left the country and the next owner of the house was Marshal Gheorghe Filipescu, hence the name Liebrecht-Filipescu House. In 1948 the building was nationalized, and since then it has served as the University House of the University of Bucharest, hosting cultural events, scientific meetings, and conferences.
