The Telephone Office (Oficiul Telefonic) is a historic telecommunications building in the old center of Constanța, constructed in 1937 to house the city’s automatic telephone services.
Designed by architect C. Nănescu, the building is a clear example of Art Deco architecture, with a symmetrical façade, strong vertical lines and restrained geometric decoration. The ground floor originally contained the public service hall, while the upper levels housed the technical equipment for Constanța’s urban and interurban telephone network. A tall mast rising above the central fronton remains one of the building’s most recognizable features.
