The Ioan Bârzan House (Casa Ioan Bârzan) is a historic residence in the old center of Constanța, built in the early 20th century for lawyer Ioan N. Bârzan. Construction appears to have begun around 1902, although the house may only have been completed after the First World War.
The building is one of Constanța’s more complete examples of French-influenced architecture, with a prominent double mansard roof and richly worked stone decoration. The lower attic level has large windows framed by deep volutes and carved details, while a smaller row of windows occupies the upper level. A long stone balcony runs across the upper floor, reinforcing the formal character of the façade.
Bârzan was an important member of the Constanța Bar and was active in the city’s cultural and civic life. During the 1920s he also led the legal publication Justiția Dobrogei.
