The Faculty Of Veterinary Medicine (Facultatea de Medicină Veterinară), is a faculty of the University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine located in a historic building on Independence Quay in Bucharest.
In 1856, Dr. Carol Davila, an army general of French origin, founded the School for Veterinary Education, the first medical school in the Balkan region that offered courses in the field of animal diseases. In 1883, the school came under the authority of the Ministry of Agriculture and obtained a higher education status. At this point, the first steps were also made to build its own premises by acquiring the plot of land on which the school is now located.
The building was designed by the architect Nicu Cerchez and constructed in the late 19th century. The building is now listed as a historic monument.
