The Ropemakers’ Tower (Turnul Funarilor) is one of the defensive towers that are part of the city walls of the historic citadel of Brașov.
The tower was first mentioned in documents in 1416, but the exact year of construction is unknown. The tower has a hexagonal shape and measures a height of about 10-12 meters. Like many other buildings in Brașov, the tower was severely damaged by fires in 1461 and 1689 but was later restored.
After another renovation in recent years, the Undertakers’ Tower is now hosting a small exhibition of a family of folk craftsmen.
