The Neagoe Basarab Monument (Monumentul lui Neagoe Basarab) is a stone statue commemorating the Prince of Wallachia who founded Curtea de Argeș Monastery. Created by Romanian sculptor Doina Lie in the 1960s, it stands on the open terrace in front of the monastery, depicting the ruler in ceremonial robes with a princely crown on his head.
Neagoe Basarab ruled Wallachia from 1512 to 1521 and was a prominent patron of Orthodox religious institutions and culture. His most celebrated foundation was the monastery church at Curtea de Argeș, constructed between 1512 and 1517, where he was subsequently buried. The monument portrays him standing in a dignified pose on a tall stone pedestal inscribed with his name and the dates of his reign. Its placement near the monastery entrance commemorates his role in establishing the religious complex.
