The Mediaș Courthouse (Judecătoria Mediaș) is a historic judicial building near the railway station in Mediaș, constructed in the early 20th century as the permanent headquarters of the local district court.
Mediaș had gained a Royal Tribunal in 1872, although that institution was moved to Dumbrăveni only a few years later. The city continued to serve as the seat of a district court, and by the beginning of the 20th century a purpose-built courthouse was commissioned to give it a more suitable permanent home. Financed by the Hungarian Ministry of Justice and designed by architect Simon Norbert, the new building was completed in 1907, with the court beginning its move into the premises in August of that year.
The courthouse was designed specifically for judicial use, with offices, courtrooms and supporting spaces arranged around the needs of the institution. Its location near the railway reflects the expansion of Mediaș beyond the medieval core during this period, when new public buildings and infrastructure were increasingly being developed outside the old center.
The building has remained in judicial use for more than a century. A major renovation and extension carried out between 2012 and 2014 reorganized the interior, converted the attic and added new archive and detention facilities, while preserving its role as the seat of the Mediaș Court.
