Furriers’ Bastion (Bastionul Cojocarilor / Bastionul Blănarilor) is a surviving bastion at the southeastern corner of the medieval fortifications of Mediaș. Built in the 16th or 17th century, it was maintained by the town’s furriers.
The bastion was constructed from a mixture of stone and brick and has a broad wedge-shaped plan with pointed sides. Architectural studies describe this form as part of an older Italian-style fortification tradition.
Today the bastion is heavily incorporated into the surrounding buildings, making it easy to overlook from street level.
