The Saint Nicholas Church (Biserica Sfântul Nicolae) is a Romanian Orthodox church in the historic Schei district of Brașov.
The church was established in 1292 and was first made out of wood. In 1495 the wooden church started to be rebuilt from stone with the help of Vlad IV, the Prince of Wallachia, and Neagoe Basarb, his successor from 1512. The Saint Nicholas Church was initially only built in the Gothic style, but in the 18th century, it was renovated and decorated with Baroque style elements. The internal frescoes were painted by Mișu Popp, who was a renowned muralist.
The church is surrounded by walls and other buildings, related to the church, including the First Romanian School. Inside the walled area, there is also a small cemetery, where some famous people have been buried, including Nicolae Titulescu, Aurel Popovici, and Vasile Saftu. You can also find a statue of Deacon Coresi, who printed the first book in the Romanian language.
