Liberty Park (Parcul Libertății) is an urban park along the northern bank of the Crișul Repede in the center of Oradea, Bihor County. The park is narrow but stretches out over about 700 meters between the main bridges in the city center, the Dacia Bridge and the Saint Laszlo Bridge. The pedestrian Bridge of Intellectuals connects the middle of the park with the other side of the river.
Liberty Park is a small but beautiful oasis in the middle of the city where you can relax or take a stroll under the shade of the trees while enjoying the views over the river. There are several benches, and there’s a small cafe as well.
Inside the park, you can also see several statues, including a large monument in honor of Imre Szacsvay, a lawyer and politician who was executed as a martyr by the Austrians for his participation in the Hungarian Revolution of 1848, during which he signed the Declaration of Independence. There’s also a statue of Iosif Vulcan in front of his former house next to the park. The house has been turned into the Iosif Vulcan Memorial Museum.
