The Iosif Vulcan Memorial Museum (Muzeul Memorial Iosif Vulcan) is a memorial museum dedicated to the Romanian writer Iosif Vulcan and is located in his former house in Oradea, Bihor County. The museum is administered by the Țării Crișurilor Museum.
Iosif Vulcan (31 March 1841 – 8 September 1907) was born in Holod, Bihor County when the area was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. He attended the Premonstratensian High School in Oradea and went on to become a writer, editor, novelist, playwright, and the founder of the literary magazine Familia, which he published for four decades.
The building in which the museum is located was built at the end of the 19th century and is a cultural monument. Iosif Vulcan used to live in the house and between 1897 and 1906, it functioned as the editorial office of his Familia magazine. After Vulcan’s death, his wife Aurelia sold the house, but after World War II it was nationalized and functioned for various purposes until it was turned into the memorial museum in 1965.
The museum houses a collection of memorabilia of the writer, including issues of the Familia magazine, Belle Époque furniture, art objects, paintings, documents, and other objects.
