Heroes Park (Parcul Eroilor) is an urban park on the southern bank of the Dâmbovița River in Bucharest.
Facilities At Heroes Park
The triangular-shaped park has an area of 5.9 hectares that surrounds the Eroilor metro station which connects to the M1, M3, and M5 metro lines. Heroes Park has rather limited facilities, but there is a relatively generous dog park, a skate park, and there are benches.
Heroes Monument
At the eastern edge of the park, there is the Monument of Medical Heroes (Monumentul Eroilor Sanitari), which is devoted to the doctors, nurses, and sisters, who saved many lives during the First World War. The monument is the work of the Italian scuptor Raffaello Romanelli and was installed in 1932. The bas-relief that surrounds the plinth of the monument depicts scenes of medical staff helping war victims at the front and in field hospitals. The main bronze statue on the top depicts a female figure with the uniform of a sister and is thought to be Queen Marie.
