Buzău Train Station (Gara Buzău) is the main passenger railway station in Buzău, in Buzău County, and connects the city with Romania’s extensive rail network. It is located on the CFR 500 line which crosses the country from Suceava in the north to Bucharest in the south.
History Of Buzău Train Station
The first railway that passed through Buzău was built in 1872 to connect the capital Bucharest with the Danube ports in Galați and Brăila. The city itself became a railway hub when the Buzău-Mărășești railway line was built in 1881 to connect Wallachia with Iași and Suceava in the historical province of Moldavia. The train station building has been renovated and extended several times to accommodate the growing number of passengers. Opposite the station are two other historic buildings: the Bucegi Hotel and the former house of the famous Romanian writer Ion Luca Caragiale.

Where you can buy your tickets depends on the rail company you’re traveling with, but in most most cases you can buy them either at the train station or online.
- CFR Călători: Tickets can be bought at one of the ticket counters or vending machines inside the train station, via certified travel agencies, or online via the website of CFR Călători or their mobile app.

Getting To And From Buzău Train Station
The railway station is located in the south of Buzău, which is a 15-minute walk from the center of the city.
The train station is also a major local transportation hub as most of the local city buses pass by here. The bus stop is to the right from the exit of the train station. Bus tickets can be purchased from the kiosk at the bus stop, by SMS, or you can pay contactless with your bank card inside the bus.
