The Saint George Serbian Church (Biserica Sârbească Sfantul Gheorghe) is a Serbian Orthodox church in the Fabric district of Timișoara. It is one of three Serbian Orthodox churches in Timișoara, with the others being the Serbian Orthodox Cathedral and the Saint Nicholas Church.
The Baroque-style church was built between 1745 and 1755 on the site of an earlier 17th-century church wooden church. In 1764 the painter Nikola Nešković designed the iconostasis and in 1775 the painter Sava Petrović created the interior paintings of the church. In 1890 the tower, which has elements of classical architecture, was added to make the church’s appearance bigger compared to the taller buildings that had been built on the square around it.
Initially, the church was the place of worship for both the Romanian and Serbian Orthodox communities, but after a split of the Orthodox church in Romania, the Saint George Church was assigned to the Serbian Orthodox church and the Romanian Orthodox community in the Fabric district built their own church, the Saint Elijah Church.
