The Church of the Holy Archangels Michael and Gabriel (Biserica Sfinții Voievozi Mihail și Gavril) is an Eastern Orthodox church in Bârlad, built in 1838-1839 to replace an earlier wattle church from 1806. Architect Ioan Sârbeschi prepared the plans and supervised construction, which was funded by members of the local community.
The first church on the site had been founded by Ecaterina Dragne, while plans for improving the complex began in the 1820s with fundraising for a wooden bell tower. By the late 1830s the older church had deteriorated, leading to its replacement with the present masonry building. A separate bell tower was added in 1858, several years after the church interior had been painted in 1852.
Major alterations in 1896 enlarged the doors and windows, added a choir loft and vestry, and reinforced the building with iron ties. The church was reconsecrated later that year. Further repairs followed during the early 20th century, but the 1940 earthquake caused the most serious damage, collapsing the tower, cracking the walls and destroying much of the interior painting. Reconstruction work during the Second World War restored the church and rebuilt the bell tower in 1942.
