Lake Bâlea Artisan Market is a seasonal market area beside Lake Bâlea, at the highest section of the Transfăgărășan in the Făgăraș Mountains. It is made up of a mix of wooden stalls, semi-permanent kiosks, temporary tents and small vendor carts.
The market focuses on regional food and handmade products. Stalls sell cheeses, cured meats, preserves, jams, pickled vegetables and other packaged local foods, alongside souvenirs and small craft items. The exact vendors and selection can vary, but the market has a recurring presence around the lake during the main visitor season.
Several stalls also prepare food to eat on the spot, including grilled sausages, kürtőskalács and other snacks, with drinks available as well. The mix of local products and freshly prepared food makes the market part of the busy atmosphere around Lake Bâlea and one of the more distinctive stops along the Transfăgărășan.
