The Church of the Holy Archangels Michael and Gabriel (Biserica Sfinții Arhangheli Mihail și Gavriil) is a historic Romanian Orthodox church in the village of Slimnic, Sibiu County. Built in 1831, it is one of the main surviving monuments connected with the town’s Romanian Orthodox community.
The church was constructed from stone and brick during the pastorate of Ioan Hociota the Elder, with Grigore Stuparu remembered as one of its principal founders. More than 200 Orthodox families lived in Slimnic at the time, and local memory also records assistance from villages in Èšara Oltului, which supplied timber and skilled craftsmen to help complete the building.
The original church was much simpler than the building seen today and did not yet have a bell tower. That tower was added gradually between 1889 and 1910, giving the church its present silhouette.
The church remained in use even after a newer Orthodox church was built elsewhere in Slimnic. After a major restoration begun in 2014, it was reconsecrated in 2019 and received a second dedication to the Annunciation, alongside its original dedication to the Archangels Michael and Gabriel.
