Roses Park (Parcul Roselor) is an urban park, located on the northern banks of the Bega River in Timișoara.
The park was opened in 1891 and was initially named after Emperor Franz Joseph who visited the park. After World War I it was renamed Rosarium and between 1929 and 1934 it was rearranged in an English style with avenues, canopies, and rose gardens. Over 1,200 species of roses were planted and an outdoor theater was set up. Another rearrangement took place in 2012.
Roses Park is considered one of the most beautiful parks in Timișoara and has become a popular tourist attraction. It has also given the city its nickname “City of Roses”. The park spans an area of 37,000 m² with a theater stage in the middle, which regularly hosts performances. Yearly festivals are being held here as well, which include the Festival of Hearts and the Opera and Operetta Festival. Admission to the park is free.
