Lloyd Palace (Palatul Lloyd) is a historic building on Victory Square (Piața Victoriei) in Timișoara, currently housing the Rectorate of the Politehnica University of Timișoara.
The palace was designed by the Hungarian architect Lipót Baumhorn, who also designed the Fabric Synagogue. Lloyd Palace was the first building built on Victory Square after the Palace of Culture and its construction took place between 1910 and 1912. The architectural style can be described as Eclectic with elements of Baroque and Secession.
Apartments were created on the second and third floors, while the first floor has been used by numerous institutions over time, including the Lloyds Society Club, the Merchandise and Agricultural Exchange of the Lloyd Society, the Police Inspectorate, and during World War I it was the headquarters of the German troops.
After the Lloyd Society was liquidated, the palace was donated to the newly established West University and in 1948 it became the headquarters of the Rectorate of the Politehnica University of Timișoara.
On the ground floor Café Wien was located initially, where Schlager, operetta, dance, and jazz performances were held. In 1926 it became Lloyd Café and over time its ownership and name have changed multiple times. In 2000 it was renamed again to Lloyd which is still a popular restaurant today.
