The Dimitrie Gh. Dima House (Casa Dimitrie Gh. Dima) is a historic residence in Pitești, built in 1901 for the engineer and construction entrepreneur Dimitrie Gh. Dima (1876-1923). The property had previously belonged to his father, a merchant who operated a small timber depot near the Holy Friday Church. Dima replaced the depot with a residential building, where he lived until his death.
After studying engineering in Darmstadt, Germany, Dima became an important figure in the development of reinforced-concrete construction in Romania. In 1908, he established the construction company Beton și Fier with engineers Tiberiu Eremie and Gogu Constantinescu, undertaking major bridge projects across the country. His work in Pitești included supervising the construction of Holy Friday Church, developing the city’s first electricity and water supply infrastructure, and building reinforced-concrete bridges across the Argeș and Doamnei rivers. He also served as prefect of Argeș County in 1921.
The house is a two-story residence with an eclectic architectural design characteristic of Pitești’s early-20th-century residential buildings. Its exterior features ornamental window surrounds, decorative plasterwork, and a projecting roofline.
