The Sinaia Town Hall (Primăria Sinaia) is the municipal headquarters of Sinaia, occupying a historic villa on Bulevardul Carol I in the center of town. The municipality has been based here since 1905, when it purchased the property from Nicolae Sc. Ghica and adapted the villa for administrative use.
The grounds were considerably more extensive than the main residence alone. Alongside the villa stood stables, a carriage shed, accommodation for staff and facilities for Sinaia’s fire service, reflecting the practical needs of a growing mountain resort at the beginning of the 20th century. From here, the local administration developed alongside Sinaia itself as the town expanded around its royal residences, hotels and public institutions.
The historic building has retained its villa-like appearance despite more than a century of civic use. Its steep roof, projecting bays and decorative façades are characteristic of Sinaia’s late 19th- and early 20th-century architecture, making it feel more like one of the resort’s grand private residences than a conventional municipal building.
As the needs of the town administration grew, the historic villa was expanded with a modern extension, adding considerably more office space while keeping the older building as the recognizable front of the town hall complex. The contrast between the original villa and the contemporary addition is clearly visible from the side, where the two sections meet.
