The Greek Catholic Theological Seminary (Seminarul Teologic Greco-Catolic) is located next to the Saint George Church on the bank of the Crișul Repede in Oradea, Bihor County.
The Greek Catholic Seminary was founded in the 18th century and was initially housed in a former building of the Jesuits. Because the building was deteriorating and ultimately became unsafe, it was demolished in 1846 to construct a new building. Between 1925 and 1928, the building was expanded at the initiative of Archbishop Demetriu Radu. following the plans of the architect Anton Sallerbeck.
Under the rule of the post-war communist regime, the Greek-Catholic Church was outlawed so the seminary was forced to close and its buildings were confiscated. In recent years, after years of legal battles, the buildings, including the church, have returned to the Greek Catholic Diocese of Oradea.
