King’s Square (PiaÈ›eta Regelui) is a small square north of Kiseleff Park, at the intersection of Pavel D. Kiseleff Road and Architect Ion Mincu Road in Bucharest.
King’s Square was inaugurated on 25 October 2012, the birthday of King Michael I (Regele Mihai I), who grew up in the nearby Kiseleff Palace. In the north-west corner of the square, there’s a bronze bust of King Michael I dressed in a military uniform. The monument is the work of the sculptor Valentin Tănase.
On the wall behind the monument, several plaques are mounted with the engravings of a speech that the king gave in Parliament in 2011, as well as a short story about the history of the Romanian royal family.
