Piatra Neamț Train Station is a passenger railway station in Piatra Neamț, in Neamț County, located next to the lower cable car station in the southwest of the city’s center.

History Of Piatra Neamț Train Station

The first railway line in Piatra Neamț was opened on 15 October 1885 to connect the city with Bacău. The first train station, which is no longer in use, was opened shortly after that in the Gara Veche neighborhood in the southeast of the city. Later the current train station was built, which was inaugurated on 2 October 1913. The building was designed by the Italian architect Carol Zane who also designed other buildings in the city, including the Youth Theater, the Art Museum, and the Cucuteni Museum.

Trains at Piatra Neamț Train Station are operated by CFR Călători, Romania’s national railway carrier and the largest operator of train routes in the country. Most trains from Piatra Neamț terminate in Bicaz or Bacău, where you can switch trains to other destinations around the country. Some trains to Bacău get attached to the Suceava-Bucharest line and continue their way to Bucharest North.

Getting To And From Piatra Neamț Train Station

Piatra Neamț is not a very large city and the railway station is located only slightly to the southwest of the center. The Stephen the Great Square which is located on the other side of the center is only a 15-minute walk away.

You can also take the local city bus to other parts of the city and into the suburbs. The bus stop is in front of the train station and bus tickets, which are 3 lei for rides within the city limits, can be bought onboard the bus.
