Călinescu House (Casa Călinescu) is a historic 19th-century residence in Curtea de Argeș, later owned by Romanian Prime Minister Armand Călinescu. Its traditional architecture includes a raised ground floor above a cellar and a wooden porch supported by posts along the southern façade, characteristic of houses in the Argeș and Muscel regions.
The house was built in the early 19th century and purchased in 1840 by Ștefan Goangă, who subsequently passed it to his son, Ion Ștefănescu Goangă. The residence was enlarged between 1840 and 1850, with another wing added between 1885 and 1890. These successive changes produced the larger house that survives today.
The property later belonged to Armand Călinescu, who served as Romania’s prime minister in 1939 and spent periods of his life in Curtea de Argeș. He was assassinated in Bucharest by members of the Iron Guard in September of that year.
