The Armenian Khachkar (Hacikarul Armenesc) is a carved stone memorial erected in 2014 beside Bulevardul Republicii in central Pitești, commemorating the victims of the Armenian genocide of 1915 in the Ottoman Empire. Donated to the city by the Armenian community, it was unveiled and blessed on September 26, 2014, during a ceremony attended by representatives of the Armenian Apostolic Church, officials from Romania and Armenia, and members of the Armenian diaspora.
The monument takes the form of a khachkar, a traditional Armenian cross-stone decorated with intricate religious and ornamental carvings. Its central cross is surrounded by interlacing floral and geometric motifs, while an inscription in Armenian and Romanian commemorates the approximately 1.5 million Armenians killed during the genocide. The inscription also includes a prayer and blessing for the victims.
