The Monument to the Heroes of the Revolution (Monumentul Eroilor Revoluției) is a commemorative stone cross in Vasile Milea Square in central Pitești, dedicated to those who lost their lives during the Romanian Revolution of December 1989. The uprising brought an end to Nicolae Ceaușescu‘s communist dictatorship, with nine people from Argeș County among those killed during the events.
The monument consists of a tall cross rising from a stone pedestal, with the inscription ‘Glory to the Heroes of the Romanian Anti-Communist Revolution, December 1989.’ The square was a gathering place for demonstrators during the revolution, and the cross now serves as the focal point for annual commemorations on December 22, when local authorities, revolutionary associations, and residents gather to lay wreaths and honor the victims.
