Weather & Climate
Situated in the low-lying Vlasia Plain, this park is defined by its extensive wetland complex and remnant forest corridors. The abundance of standing water acts as a significant thermal regulator, maintaining higher humidity levels and moderating temperature extremes compared to the surrounding open plains. This water-driven microclimate defines the park’s seasonal rhythms, supporting a lush, vibrant environment that stays humid and cool even during the peak of summer heat.
Summer (June-August): This is the season for boating, kayaking, and birdwatching on the lake. Temperatures are warm, frequently reaching 26°C to 31°C, making the cool, shaded paths within the Comana Forest particularly popular. It is a highly active time for aquatic vegetation and wildlife, providing excellent opportunities for nature photography.
Spring and Autumn: These are the most pleasant times for exploration. Spring (April–May) features lush, vibrant green forests and active bird life, with temperatures of 15°C to 20°C. Autumn (September–October) is quiet and atmospheric, with mild weather averaging 13°C to 18°C, ideal for cycling or walking the trails through the changing forest foliage.
Winter (December-March): The park enters a quiet dormancy. Temperatures typically range between -3°C and 4°C. While the lake may partially freeze, the surrounding forest provides a serene, wintry landscape. Access is straightforward as the park is close to main road infrastructure, but visitors should be prepared for typical lowland winter conditions and potential fog in the wetland areas.
