Ilfov County is one of the 41 counties (județe) of Romania. It is located in the Ilfov-Bucharest development region and is part of the historical region of Muntenia (Wallachia). Ilfov is surrounded by the counties Prahova, Ialomița, Călărași, Giurgiu, and Dâmbovița. Ilfov itself surrounds Romania’s capital Bucharest, which hosts the seat of Ilfov County but is administratively independent of the county’s jurisdiction.
