Weather & Climate
Caraș-Severin County features a rugged landscape, transitioning from wide Danube river valleys to the high massifs of the Semenic and Țarcu mountains. This topography creates a layered continental climate, softened by warm Mediterranean currents along the Danube.
In summer, sheltered valleys typically range from 26°C to 29°C, while high-altitude resorts offer a refreshing escape of 17°C to 22°C. Transition seasons are consistently mild, with average temperatures between 10°C and 18°C.
Regional contrasts peak in winter: central urban basins like Reșița remain moderate, hovering around -1°C to 3°C, while high-altitude ranges experience consistent snowfall and sub-zero temperatures. Travelers should prepare for deep winter conditions when accessing mountain ski resorts or high trails.
