The Church of the Ascension of the Lord (Biserica Înălțarea Domnului) is a historic Greek Catholic church in the center of Mediaș. Built in 1826 through the efforts of Bishop Ioan Bob, it was the first Romanian church constructed inside the medieval walls of the town and is still commonly known as the Bob Church (Biserica Bob).
The church was built for the growing Romanian Greek Catholic community of Mediaș at a time when the historic center was still dominated by Saxon institutions and churches. Bishop Ioan Bob, one of the leading figures of the Romanian Greek Catholic Church in Transylvania, supported the construction and gave the church the name by which it is still locally remembered.
Its architecture is relatively simple, with a single nave ending in a polygonal apse and a bell tower incorporated into the western end of the building. The façade combines late Baroque and early Neoclassical details, including shallow pilasters, a round window and a small upper tower crowned by a pointed roof.
The church also became part of the wider development of Romanian cultural life in Mediaș during the 19th century. The first Romanian-language school in the town was founded nearby in 1834, only a few years after the church was completed.
