The Rosenauer House (Casa Rosenauer) is a historic residence on King Ferdinand I Square in the center of Mediaș. The building dates from the early 17th century and was later remodeled, combining Renaissance elements with an 18th-century Baroque façade.
The house is generally dated to around 1621, while major alterations carried out between 1790 and 1793 gave the street front much of its present appearance. Baroque stucco decoration was added during this period, although Renaissance window surrounds and other earlier details still survive on the upper floor and in the courtyard.
The house later passed into the ownership of the Rosenauer family, whose name it still carries today. During the 19th century the family was active in the local wine trade, fitting naturally into the commercial life that developed around Mediaș’s main square.
