The Nottara Theater (Teatrul Nottara) is located on Bulevardul General Gheorghe Magheru in central Bucharest. The theater is named after the great Romanian actor Constantin Nottara (1859 1935).
The theater was established as the Army Theater (Teatrul Armatei) in 1947. The theater was built by the engineer Liviu Ciulley who also built the CFR Palace and the new building of the National Bank of Romania. His son, also named Liviu Ciully, was a famous director, actor, and scenographer, and the artistic director of the Bulandra Theater.
