The Robert Schuman Park (Parcul Robert Schuman) is a public park in central Focșani, next to the Donie Church and the city’s Public Garden. Named after the French statesman Robert Schuman (1886-1963), one of the founding figures of European integration, it is a landscaped recreational area with walking paths, a central fountain, and facilities for children and adults.
The park formed part of the larger green space around Focșani’s historic center, which was gradually divided and altered as the surrounding streets and buildings developed. It underwent a major renovation in 2014, when new paths, benches, irrigation systems, and a children’s playground were introduced. The renovated park was inaugurated on May 9, Europe Day, reflecting the European significance of its namesake.
The park has a compact layout with paths winding between lawns, trees, flowering shrubs, and planted areas. A circular ornamental fountain forms a central feature, with benches arranged along the paths. There is also a children’s playground and a sheltered seating area with tables used for chess and other board games. The combination of open lawns and shaded corners makes it a convenient place for a short walk or a quiet break in the city center.
