Sfântu Gheorghe Bus Station (Autogara Sfântu Gheorghe) is the main long-distance bus station in Sfântu Gheorghe in Covasna County and is located near the train station to the east of the city.
The bus station serves bus connections to towns in the region, but also to other cities around the country, and an international route to Budapest (Hungary). Be aware though, that many different bus companies are operating long-distance services, and not all buses depart from this bus station.
Getting To And From Sfântu Gheorghe Bus Station
The bus station is located 100 meters north of the train station, east of the city, on the opposite side of the Olt River. By foot, it’s a 20 to 25-minute walk to the center of Sfântu Gheorghe.
You can also get to and from the bus station with the local bus as almost all city buses (lines 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5) terminate at the train station. You can buy bus tickets from the vending machine, via the mobile app 24Pay, or at a surcharge from the bus driver. The normal price for a single-journey ticket is 2.50 lei, while inside the bus it’s 5 lei. There is also a taxi stand in front of the bus station. Ridesharing apps like Bolt and Uber are currently not (yet) available in Sfântu Gheorghe.
Facilities At Sfântu Gheorghe Bus Station
At the bus station there are public toilets, ticket offices, kiosks, vending machines, and an indoor waiting area. A larger supermarket, an ATM, and a pharmacy can be found nearby on Strada 1 Decembrie 1918.
