I’Velo is a bicycle-sharing system in Romania offered by the company Asociata Green Revolution based in Bucharest. The bikes are currently only available in Bucharest and ConstanÈ›a, but there are plans to roll out the services to other cities as well. I’Velo offers two types of bicycle rental systems, which are both available via the I’Velo app: Urban and Relax.
I’Velo Urban
I’Velo Urban is the largest bike-sharing system in Romania and consists of automated bike stations aimed at everyday urban commuting needs. You can see all the stations and available bikes in the app, make a booking, and pick up the bike by scanning a QR code with the app. After your ride, you can return the bike at any automated station with a free parking place, which you can also identify in the app. In the end you’ll be charged automatically for the time used via the app. I’Velo Urban is currently only available in Bucharest where you can find over 20 bike stations throughout the central areas of the city.
I’Velo Relax
I’Velo Relax offers manned bike rental kiosks located at parks. Here you can pick up a bike with a subscription or simply show your ID and pay for a one-time rental. You can return your bike back at the same location or at any of the other manned stations. I’Velo Relax is currently available at the following locations:
- King Michael I Park – near the Triumphal Arch
- King Michael I Park – at Charles de Gaulle Square
- Youth Park (northern entrance)
-
Alexandru Ioan Cuza Park (near the metal globe)
- City Park Mall – at the lake exit
What Does I’Velo Cost?
A one-time rental at a Relax station is available for 1 hour (15 lei), 2 hours (2 lei), or 24 hours (40 lei). Via the app you can book a single 2-hour ride (20 lei) or take a subscription for a month (99 lei) or a year (249 lei) and pick up a bike from any Urban or Relax station. Subscriptions include an unlimited number of rides, but each ride is capped at 2 hours, after which an extra charge of 60 lei per hour is applied.
