Getting To Ploiești

Ploiești is located about 55 kilometers north of Bucharest and can be reached by air, car, train, bus, or private transfer.

• By air: Ploiești itself doesn’t have an airport but the largest airport in Romania, Bucharest International Airport – Henri Coandă, is only 45 minutes away.
• By car: By car, the city is a 55-kilometer drive away from the capital Bucharest, 45 kilometers from Târgoviște, 75 kilometers from Buzău, and 110 kilometers from Brașov. Car rental is available at all airports and in most cities in Romania. Be aware though, that paid parking is applicable in some of the central areas of the city.
• By train: Ploiești is also well-connected to Romania’s extensive rail network by 4 train stations. The two main train stations are Ploiești South for eastern and southern connections, and Ploiești West for north-south connections, while the other two stations (Ploiești North and Ploiești East) are only used for regional trains.
• By bus: There are also many bus and minibus connections between Ploiești and nearby towns and other cities in Romania. Most of the regional and long-distance buses depart from the North Bus Station or South Bus Station, while others depart from other places around the city, so it’s best to check the details of your specific journey with the specific bus company directly.

Getting Around In Ploiești

Ploiești is one of the larger cities in Romania and although the central areas are easily walkable, you can also avail of public transport, taxis, or ridesharing.

• By foot: Most of the touristic sights and other places of interest are located in the central areas of the city and are therefore best visited by foot. The city has some wide boulevards with decent sidewalks, plenty of pedestrian crossings, and the there are several parks where you can stroll around.
• By public transport: You can also get around the city and its suburbs by public transport as the city has an extensive network of more than 35 bus routes, 4 trolleybus routes, and 2 tram lines. You can buy public transport tickets from the ticket booths and machines available at some of the busier bus or tram stops, but you can also pay contactless with you bank card inside the bus or tram, or with the mobile app 24Pay. • By taxi and ridesharing: Taxis are also a relatively cheap and convenient alternative to get around in the city and ridesharing apps Bolt and Uber are is also available for rides in Ploiești.
