The Gheorghe Petrașcu House (Casa Gheorghe Petrașcu) is the former residence of the famous Romanian painter Gheorghe Petrașcu (1872-1949) on Roman Square (Piața Romană) in Bucharest.
The house was designed by the architect Spiridon Cegăneanu, a disciple of Ion Mincu, who designed Nicolae Petrașcu’s house on the same square. The villa was constructed in 1912-1913 in a Neo-Romanian style combined with neoclassical touches. Its facade features remarkable ornaments of enameled ceramics. The interior paintings are the work of Gheorghe Petrașcu himself, who used the house as his residence and workshop.
The building is private property and can’t be visited from the inside, but you can admire it from the outside, together with the other remarkable buildings on Roman Square, including the villa of Gheorghe’s brother Nicolae Petrașcu.
